Meet The Artist
First things first, I don’t consider myself poor, I really am quite fortunate to be blessed with an “artistic eye” and the ability to create paintings that allow you to see things the way I do!
As for Poor Richard, I use the moniker out of respect for Ben Franklin, one of the most industrious, well rounded and truly creative individuals of his, or any time. Not to mention he really was one of the founding fathers of the United States.
Maybe you’re interested in purchasing one of my creations for your home or vacation home. Well, read on!
I’m a firm believer in knowing who you’re doing business with. I very much like my clients to be happy with any of my creations (paintings on canvas or custom murals for your home). Here is my self portrait using words as my crush for your perusal.
Let’s start with the background in my portrait…

Fishing on the Bay
From an early age I was interested in wildlife drawing & painting and I really enjoyed fishing. Mom could almost always find me at the creek, lake, ocean or in my room, re-creating my day in art. This truly has been a life-long passion for me!
I began my formal art training in 1971 (I firmly believe that a person is never so experienced that something new can’t be learned, so this is an ongoing process!). I’ve studied at the Art Students League in New York City, the Neward School of Fine & Industrial Arts and Long Beach State in California.
Have you ever been part of a team in a non-team sport? A bit of an odd question, I know. I ask it to point out that I gained some invaluable experience even after the “formal” education. When in Pennsylvania, I was part of an artisans guild, kind of a “mastermind” group. The advice and insight I gained during that time was highly beneficial (although I had already accomplished some success commercially via my murals) and helped me gain a new depth and vision in my paintings and my creativity.
I’ve been creating decorative paintings and murals for over 30 years now, for clients, friends and family members…all custom ordered and one-of-a-kind designs to suit individual tastes and desires. These are always a joint effort in creativity between my clients and myself.
Today you’ll find me fly tying, fishing or painting outdoor scenes for pleasure and relaxation most of the time…and yes, hawking my wares here on the internet!
I still consider myself to be very lucky and privileged to spend my “working” hours applying my passion and artistic expression in the creation of custom murals and decorative paintings for discriminating clients.
Thank you for reading this little letter and I truly do hope we become mush better acquainted, for all of my clients truly do become friends.
Sincerely,
“Poor” Richard

Sometimes it pays to look down!
Here is another of my favorites…and just remember, if you are always looking up or straight ahead, you could miss the beauty that Mother Nature has put at your feet! If you’re interested in purchasing this painting for your home, click here.
