Bills introduced to change deer hunting

ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) Several bills have been introduced this legislative session that would make changes to deer hunting in Minnesota.
One bill by Republican Rep. Steve Drazkowski of Wabasha would extend the firearms deer season in southeastern Minnesota. It gets a hearing Monday before the House Game, Fish and Forestry Division.
It will also hear Monday a bill that would allow recently discharged members of the military to get a permit to hunt either does or bucks.
Another House proposal would make hunting and fishing licenses free for residents that have served in the military during the last two years. And volunteer firearms safety instructors would get a free lifetime deer hunting license under a proposal by Rep. Dave Olin, a Democrat from Thief River Falls.
